Fail Proof New Years Eve

I wrote this for a guest post last year for Pam. I figured I could share it this year.

Now that Christmas is over we have one more big holiday to look forward to... New Years! This year I have some pretty grandeois plans {last year I was very pregnant and very grouchy whomp whomp}. I thought that yall would give yall my three *fail proof* tips to a great New Years Eve!

1) Wear a major statement piece
-This doesnt necessarily have to be jewelry. You can wear bold heels or a sparkly dress, just make sure you have on something that pops. And most importantly something that you feel GREAT wearing. Wherever you go you are bound to be surrounded by glitter and sequins, it will most likely look like a disco ball expoloded, so stand out in your own way.

2) Find the perfect location
-Your perfect location could be anything from a crowded nightclub to your own comfy couch. As long as you have a relaxed environment and good company it doesnt matter where you countdown to midnight! This year

3) Have Fun
-Sounds pretty dumb right? I find that I usually put huge expectations on New Years Eve and it's always a bit of a let down. So now my only expectation is to have fun! If that's your only goal then your night is bound to be a success.

And what New Years is complete without a fun cocktail? So I wanted to share my favorite festive drink.

Cranberry Bliss
1/3 cup champagne
1/4 cup vodka
1/2 cup cranberry juice

Shake and enjoy!

ps- This is totally not my image. I have poor photography skills so I turned to my trusty google to make it look as appealing as it tastes.

DC Minication Recap

DC was absolute heaven. Relaxation and fun and exactly what we needed. After sitting in traffic we finally made it to our hotel around 4pm. Our hotel was the Rouge and to be honest I don't have a single complaint. The decor is kind of kitschy but the accommodations are new and very nice. Our room was super large and we had every amenity that we desired. Plus all of the Kimpton Hotels are super pet friendly and they were amazing with Daisymae.

We relaxed for a little while, watched some cartoons, unpacked, and then headed out to explore our area of the city.

We were in the Dupont Circle/ Logan Circle area and it's mostly residential, but they have everything that you could want for {I mean we were two blocks from Whole Foods}. So that night we grabbed dinner at Agora. It was a Mediterranean tapas style restaurant and super delicious. they were very accommodating to BK and she did fantastic all through dinner while we ate and enjoyed a beverage.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel to hang out for a bit before I set off on my mommy adventure to DryBar. My time at DryBar was nothing short of amazing. I mean you drink champagne while watching great movies i.e. Mean Girls & Bride Wars. My stylist was not only super sweet, but amazing at what she did. The rest of the staff was so kind when I was the last one in there a few minutes past closing time thanks to my MASSIVE hair. I even met a training manager who sat down and took an active interest in me. Needless to say I will definitely be back. If you're thinking about going, just do it! For real, I promise you will not regret it. It will be the best $40 ever spent on your hair.

I mean my hair looked damn good y'all!

Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to meet up with one my bestest friends, Brea. She took some beautiful pictures of us, we gallivanted the city, but most of all we got some quality time together. Love her.

After Brea headed back to Maryland for a prospective client meeting, the hubs + baby + I set off to the Kite festival on the National Mall where we met up with his family. It was so beautiful to see the historic spots in the city, and we got to relax and enjoy each others company, and the weather was perfection.

Saturday night we left Miss BK with her Gigi and Grandpa while S & I headed out to dinner with his brother and our soon to be sister in love. We had an amazing time. Some yummy dinner, lots of laughs, gelato, and we finished off the night with a few beers back in our room before we grabbed the baby for bed. Unfortunately we only have one picture, but I have to say that it's a good one.

Sunday brought Easter baskets, bloody mary's in the hotel lobby, lunch at  2Amys, and then the road trip home. It was the perfect way to spend Easter weekend. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Refreshed

This weekend was heaven. I got three full days of family time. A full DC recap will come up tomorrow, today I am still basking in the weekend after glow. It's funny how something so simple as a scenery change can bring such happiness. I was surrounded by the same people I usually am, we even brought Daisymae. And to be perfectly honest we didn't do anything *extraordinary* this weekend, but none the less it was bliss. There was laughter, hugs, giggles, extra long baths, lots of chocolate eating, and tons of love. We all came home feeling delightfully refreshed. And to make our weekend even better we were greeted with temperatures in the 70's today, so the baby and I had our first beach day of the year. It was the perfect way to end a long weekend.

Here's a little peek into our getaway. Be sure to check out my fabulous friend Brea who took this gorgeous photo.

Mini Sized Vacation

Happy Friday y'all! We are already 1/3 of the way through 2013, is that crazy or what? The hubs and baby are still sleeping so I wanted to pop in and wish everyone a very happy Easter. We are off to DC soon for a mini vacation and lots of family time, and we are finally supposed to have some spring weather so it's a double win! Here's a little preview of how I'll be spending mine.

Have a great weekend.

Dressed to the Nines

As I mentioned yesterday we're going to be in D.C. for Easter. Since we're going to a bigger mass and a fancy brunch I decided to buy the family new Easter clothes. We're going with a pretty neutral pallet of creams, khakis, and adding in a little mint for some color. I'm super excited about the skirt that I'm wearing from Adornme Girl, but I havent quite decided which shirt I'm wearing. Maybe just the chambray like my girl Meghan has worn over at District Sparkle. Or maybe just the sweater since it is supposed to be relatively warm. I honestly dont know what I will end up wearing. I guess that is the beauty of options. I'll be sure to post pictures of us looking all fancy when we get back!

Easter Basket Essentials

This weekend we're going out of town to D.C. We were originally supposed to go and enjoy the Cherry Blossom Festival, but these frigid temperatures {and snow} have pushed the bloom dates back whomp whomp. On the plus side I'm getting a fresh 'do at DryBar on Friday night courtesy of my super fab husband, I get to see one of my best friends Brea on Saturday, and my brother in law + his beautiful fiancé + my inlaws will be joining us.

My love language is gifts, but more so that I love giving gifts. Every occasion is a good gift giving occasion I think, and Easter is definitely no exception. For Easter this year we will be at a hotel, so I've tried to find easy to pack gifts. I'm super excited about the goodies that BK & S are getting in there baskets this year. I also put together a basket for the inlaws and brother & sister, but I will share those along with S's basket next week. I wouldnt want to spoil the surprise.

Brooklyn is getting...

A super cute little stuffed chick. I got hers from Target but I couldnt find it online.

Her 15th {yes I said 15} swimsuit for the summer. But this one was totally necessary for early beach days when it still might be a little chilly.

Fancy Nancy is her favorite series so it's only fair that she get every holiday book

Her own little tervis tumbler for the summer. Perfect for trips to the park and beach days.

She's also getting some plastic eggs in her basket filled with her favorite snacks: goldfish & puffs. And in full disclosure there may or may not be a small peanut butter cup in there. They're her favorite special treat, and she never eats a whole one, but also I blame her dad for getting her hooked on them while we were in Jamaica. She even prefers them frozen the little stinker.

Do y'all do Easter baskets? What do you put in them?

My basket has this bikini and I get to go to DryBar. I think I did pretty well this year.

Time to Start...

drinking green sh*t, and jogging.

Fact. I didn't even know that tomorrow was St. Patrick's Day, until my husband informed me yesterday.

Bigger Fact. I am a lame mom now.

Right about now I would usually be whipping up the jello shots and prepping some pigs in a blanket for the shenanigans that ensue, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Rain = do I really wanna get a babysitter and drive 30 minutes to only be able to have one drink so that I can drive home a few hours later?!? Instead I think I"m going to whip up some drinks, rent a movie, and hang out with my two main squeezes. Just to prove that I'm not like grandma lame, I am going to share a super delicious adult beverage recipe.

Lucky Shamrocks
1 part sour apple liquor
1 part vodka
1 part sprite

Mix & enjoy.

Do you have big plans for St. Patrick's day?

A Smattering of Love

Happy Valentine's Day y'all! Sorry I'm joining my link-ups so late. My mini valentine and I have spent the day b.u.s.y.

30 Second Thursdays

First up it's Thirty Second Thursday! Sorry that I look a hott mess {again} in the vlog. We had just gotten back from running errands and I really wanted to join.

Its Ok Thursdays

Next up is Its Ok Thursday! This week I'm saying Its OK:
-that I'm linking up so very late in the day
-that I spent all day running around and turning our house into Casa de Amor that I tired myself out and instead of the grand feast I had planned we're getting take out
-that the dress I'm wearing tonight is from Gap Kids Girls section
-to have bought two bottles of champagne so that I could have a bottle while I set up for our night
-to be super, super excited about Safe Haven & Beautiful Creatures!

Have a fantastic night everyone!

Valentine's Day Fashion

Today I thought I'd share a little of my Valentine's Day Fashion with yall. I brought you two outfits, one for a date night out and for a date night in.

valentines day out

valentines day out by tinymrsh featuring forever 21

This is almost my exact outfit that I'll be wearing this weekend when the mister and I escape just the two of us. Last year I wore I a red dress, so this year I thought I would take things a bit edgier. You know I'm all about trying to keep that "spice" up.

valentines2

This is what I'll be wearing tomorrow night when we celebrate at home as a family. I didnt want to get too casual and greet the hubs in yoga pants {like I usually do}, but I'll still be comfortable in my skinny jeans and a flowy top. The baby has a special Valentine's Day dress too.

What are you wearing for Valentine's Day? Are you celebrating by going out or staying in?

Every Little Thing Gonna Be Alright...

Today I'm going to do a little recap of our Jamaican Christmas! To sum it up in one word, PERFECTION. Seriously, there is not a single thing that I would change about our trip.

We stayed at The Jewel Runaway Bay The resort was perfect for our needs. It was definitely not the most posh place that we have ever stayed, but for the purpose of our trip if far exceeded my expectations. And I'm a bit of a hotel snob  connoisseur . It was small, therefore there were short walks to all of the restaurants, beach, pool, etc. The size also helped that we never had trouble getting a reservation at one of the specialty restaurants. Speaking of food, it was delicious. Fresh fruit and fish every day. Lots of choices: hibachi, italian, a grill, mongolian bbq, and a buffet. The staff was soo soo kind. The beach was beautiful and it was groomed every night. The rooms could use a little sprucing up, but honestly how much time do you spend in them anyways. Although we never used it they had a kids club for all ages and a babysitting service. And the drinks were fabulous! The resort was decorated beautifully, and they brought in Santa!

Now I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

And don't forget all sponsor spots are 50% off with the code NEWYEAR
